new bike

I have been out of bike touring for 25 years. I am getting back into it, and I'm new to adventure cycling and this forum. The two big questions I have are buying  a standard touring bike? I am leaning towards the (Kona Sutra) Or a custom bike? Is it worth it? I plan on doing a lot of long distance riding. Any help or suggestions I would appreciate. Thanks.

I started a thread on this very topic a few weeks ago and got a pretty good response. See below.  Of course, there were lots of different opinions and it resolved nothing but I did appreciate everyone's input. For the time being, I've decided to  keep my 2012 Kona Sutra which I really like and use the money for a few more luxuries on my next tour i.e. restaurant meals, motels, etc.  No right answer but always fun to discuss.  Whatever you do, make sure the bike fits you correctly.
