Bikepacking to NC via Kentucky or Tennessee?
« on: June 07, 2018, 01:51:20 pm »
Hello! So I'm trying to get to NC for the summer but I've got two choices... Amtrak to Memphis and ride thru Tennessee or from Carbondale IL via the trans American route thru Kentucky. I will be doing a self supported tour so will be relying on state parks and as much tent camping as possible - not much $ in the budget for hotels etc.

Kentucky cycling routes look a bit more developed, but it seems Tennessee also has some west to east routes to offer. Which state would be more hospitable to a bike pack/camping adventure?

Thanks!

You don't say where you are trying to get to in NC, but NC is very easy to get to from Damascus, VA and the Trans-Am bicycle route. Using the Trans-Am gives you a lot of information about places to stay.
