Dear group:  I'm interested in riding from Altoona Pennsylvania to Raleigh, North Carolina.  Can you suggest best route? (especially south of Winchester, Virginia).  thank you.  cjh

I would suggest using US Bike Route 1. That route runs between Washington, DC and Raleigh.

You could ride into DC from Purcellville, VA on the W&OD rail trail. Purcellville is 30 miles east of Winchester. I would just Google map the route between Winchester and Purcellville.
