Family tandems?
« on: July 09, 2018, 10:21:52 pm »
Hello, cyclists! My 7 year old daughter is outgrowing our much loved Weehoo trailer and I’m wondering if anyone out there has any personal experience with a family tandem. Two models that look suited to long trips are the Co-Motion Periscope and Bike Friday Family Tandem. (And I know why but...both are quite expensive.) Leads/suggestions/advice are most welcome and will be appreciated.

You could also get a modest quality tandem, or a good used one, and add a tandem child's stoker kit.  Don't forget that you need low gears, especially with a child stoker whose power output might be less or inconsistent.

Does anyone in the USA make Kiddiback tandems
Thorns are popular in the UK and we used a Longstaff (and still have it). The stoker end is lower down and they are brilliant.
