Atlantic Coast Section 6 - ferry closed - September 2018

The Mayport Ferry across the St. Johns River on map 72 is closed for maintenance until October 31, 2018. The detour around this closure goes through downtown Jacksonville and uses a portion of the Jacksonville Airport Access. To view a map of the detour, see https://ridewithgps.com/routes/28535750?beta=false. Use EXTREME caution crossing the Mathews Bridge just east of downtown Jacksonville. It has fast traffic and virtually no shoulder. We recommend riding across it when traffic is very light, or to call a shuttle/taxi. You could also use the Main St. Bridge which has pedestrian sidewalks, but is a little more out of the way.
