I read the study but I disagree with the criteria, premise, or basis or whatever scientific term is used.  Basically, you have to agree with the thought that humans TRULY believe other human beings (cyclists, other racial/ethnic group/sex, etc.) are indeed non-human.  If someone TRULY believes the "others" are even a little bit NON-human, then those people are delusional or whatever scientific term applies.  Additionally, the biggest issue is they have not presented an absolute definition for what is a "human" so how can you compare accurately other than giving a subjective opinion.  This is all about likeability opinions.

My thought is that if someone truly believes cyclists are non-human, to me they are saying they do not like them and/or disagree with their actions, beliefs, etc. just becuase they perceive them to be different than themselves.  To me, this is the exact same as a white person thinking a black person is "non-human".  That is idiotic thinking.  All races are exactly the same human, just that they have a different skin/hair color.
You asked for my thoughts so I provided them.  I won't respond further as to me, this is just something that will melt down into a negative argument.

Now go be a "person who rides a bike"  ;) . Tailwinds, John

The alleged 'study' is simply more of the daily dosage of 'news' evidence that the world seems to be inexorably trending away from
'I need to be to others (aka, all humans) as I want others to be to me.'
