Bridge at Taylors Fall Minnesota
« on: February 27, 2019, 10:03:34 pm »
I'm taking a short detour off the Northern Tier and will be passing through Taylor's Fall Minnesota this summer.  From Google Maps, it looks like Route 8 won't be bad to bicycle across.  But it looks like there may be a bicycle/pedestrian crossing at the St. Croix River too.  Any input?

If you are going west to east, we did that section on the Northern Tier last summer.  Came down 95 from Cambridge MN (went a bit off route to go to a fantastic grocery co-op there) and stayed at the Interstate park on the MN side.  In the morning, crossed over the bridge on 8, which was fine, though a little tight with all the recreational vehicles going up that hill.    Turn off 8 on Vincent St, to get to the Polk County Visitor's center, which is where you jump onto the Gandy Dancer rail trail. Highly recommend this trail. We took this all the way north to the town of Lucky, which was further than the ACA route planned. But we just did not want to get off of the trail, it was so smooth rolling. That perfect crushed granite when it's had the right amount of rain.  From Luck we took 48 east until we met back up with the ACA route.
Hope that helps,
Emily
