Lodging listings on paper maps

What determines the order in which lodging establishments are listed on the paper maps? It doesn't seem to be alphabetical. Is it based upon user feedback?

Because historically these listings are manually entered and maintained, it is unpredictable the order they are listed. Generally, they tend to be listed in the order you would encounter them riding in the primary direction of the route (the direction of the first narratives on the map panels). This can change over time as establishments close, new listings are added based on cyclist feedback or owners request being added.

As we implement our new database that will output the service directories, I expect this will become more consistent to the original intention, they will appear in the order in which you are likely to encounter them.
