From Coldspring local Susan Butler:

"Texas State Hwy 150 between Punkin and Coldspring is currently under construction. On drivetexas.org, it gives an expected completion date of 7/31/2019, which isn't going to happen! They are way behind. I have planned two alternative routes on RidesWithGPS.com. One is named "Hwy 150 Alternate" and is suitable for hybrid and mountain bike tires only as it uses forest service roads. It is also very remote, but beautiful; it meanders through the National Forest. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30557408

The other route is named "Hwy 150 Construction Bypass", and follows paved roads. I will warn you, though, that the intersection of Hwy 150 and Hwy 1725 is fairly dangerous! Cyclists should approach that intersection with caution. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/30575978

Road tires CANNOT ride on the section of the road currently under construction. The road is torn up and is even very bumpy to drive on (and I have a 4WD truck)! Thanks!"

Recently road right through this.  Construction team lets bikers pass with no problem.  It is wide and very smooth!   :)
