Maps

Adventure Cycling used to have maps for a route from the US/Canada border to Alaska.  Anyone out there have a used set or know of where to find bike maps for a route through Banff north?

They have never a map for the North Star Route, probably since the route is very simple and the services are always changing.

For the route, basically use the Great Parks North maps to get to Jasper, Alberta.  From there, head west to Kitawanga > Watson Lake > Whitehorse > Dawson City > Chicken > Tok > and then either Fairbanks or Anchorage.  If going to Prudhoe Bay (Deadhorse), go to Fairbanks.  Even if you are going to Anchorage, going thru Fairbanks allows you to go by Denali National Park on the way to Anchorage.

Get a current Milepost book for services.  ALWAYS carry spare food as the cafes and gas stations close and new ones open frequently.  Always ask a local about what is up the road.

Other than that, bring mosquito repellent.
