Pre-Built wheel with dynamo for Trek 520

Hey there. I am leaving on June 20th to finish the TransAmerica I started with my son in 2020. I really would like a prebuilt wheel with dynamo for my 2015 Trek 520, since building one is not possible in such a short time. (Don't ask why I did not do this way before). Any ideas where to best get such a pre-built wheel with a dynamo already in it so my local bike shop can just put it on? I prefer not to use Amazon (did not see anything there).

If you haven't done so, the first place to check is your local shop. They can source things far more efficiently than we can, and a custom wheel build is only a couple hours of shop time.

Agree with always starting with your LBS. A quick glance at Ebay found a few wheels for sale.

For a pre-built wheel on a short timeframe, outside of LBS (which can be hit or miss IME and parts availability may be tough for a short notice custom build), I've had great luck w/ both ebay (used) and Velomine (new). It's been a while since I've checked out Velomine's offerings, but they have offered touring wheels w/ dynamo in the past. There are small bike brands like Crust that offer decently-priced new dynamo wheelsets and may actually have them in stock, but I think the Crust wheels may be 650b only.

Hi Ingo,

I might have what you want/need.  It's a SON Delux (not the SON 28) laced to a 700 Alex DH 19 rim, built by Jeff Bradley at the Trek Store  It's a rim brake set-up and has never been used.

Long story short: For my Surly Troll I bought (what was described as a 26 inch) rim online and, without opening the box after its arrival, took it to Jeff and had him build the wheel.  I knew something was wrong the moment I laid eyes on it.   The online company had sent me a 700 rim, so the new wheel was completely useless to me.

Again, it's rim brake only and has never been used.  I'll try to add pictures.
