I "wear off the bike" clothes when touring when I am done for the day so yep, got to bring undies while touring too.  They usually act as my pajamas though, especially in the summer so not a total waste of space and weight.
For me running shorts with a built in brief  or tights if it is cooler serve that function on tour.  So I don't usually carry any underwear.

BTW, another thought on the devices...  It is fun (for me at least) to remember that within my adult lifetime there was a time none of these devices even existed unless you count a camera as a device, but even that would be a film camera.  No mobile phones, let alone smart phones, no GPS, no laptops, and no tablets, unless they were stone tablets.  When you look at it that way, having a smart phone along means having a remarkable amount of capability, that would have been unimaginable not that many years ago, in a tiny device.  Folks managed to tour with none of that, so I figure we are pretty lucky to have all that in one little device and I am inclined to embrace that one little device.

Nothing wrong with carrying more if it suits your style, but the phone will really do a pretty good job at a lot of functions that we wouldn't have even been able to do at all (or could do only in a very limited fashion) not that many years ago.

I've got hundreds of pictures from multiple week-long tours that I can stare at and wonder, "Where was that?  Why did I take a picture there?"  But I haven't wanted to take the time to develop a blog on any of those shorter tours.
Most smart phone cameras note the date, time and place of every picture you take if you set them up to do so.  Obviously they aren't nearly as versatile as a good dedicated camera but do a remarkably good job if your demands aren't too high.  At least you would know where you were and when. It won't help with your past trips but can be useful in the future.

Yeah, but in the past tourers who wanted to record their trip had to take a writing tablet and pen and a (film) camera and those who wanted to read in the evening took along one or more books.  I expect all of that weighed more and took up more space than a Kindle or iPad.

My point exactly.  One little device that weighs just a few ounces does what ten pounds of stuff did in the past and at least some would argue does it better and more easily.  We are lucky enough to be able to carry far less and I am inclined to take advantage of that by leaving all that extra weight at home.  Others can feel free to carry tablets, laptops, cameras, and whatever else they choose.

A small camera, a small book,  a smaller cell phone and an even smaller log book.
