DisneyLand in CA to DisneyWorld in FL
« on: February 11, 2020, 01:58:57 pm »
Hi everyone... first time poster looking for some advice. I'm 67 years old. On April 1st I'll be riding from Disneyland in Anaheim, CA to DisneyWorld in Orlando, FL. to raise awareness of child trafficking around the world. I will be doing the ride totally barefoot as I have lived this way (with not even a sock on my feet) for almost 10 years. I have most of the route planned but am trying to find a route from Anaheim to El Paso where I would have the minimum of elevation climbs. I know the Southern Tier takes you through North from Tempe, AZ but I am trying to avoid that and the 8,000'+ climbs! Does anyone have an idea of how I can do this going south from Anaheim to El Paso and not having to go north? I would sincerely appreciate your help. Much thanks!

First, welcome to the forums!  Second, thanks for doing your ride for such a worthy goal.

To avoid the Tempe climb, I would head south past Tucson to take AZ-83 south then east on AZ-82 then east on Davis Road (a little SE of Tombstone).  At McNeal, back track a mile or so to Central Hwy to Double Adobe to Kings Road (all county roads) before entering Douglas.  Then work you way back northeast on AZ-80 then east on AZ-9 into El Paso.  You will miss a lot of pretty scenery.

Services are much more spread out so be prepared.
