Parks Peaks and Praires ?

A question for anyone who has ridden any part of this route. I know it is newly published but hoping someone has some experience.
How late in the season can one get over the climbs/peaks and still have"good" weather?

In 1992 I was in Glacier National Park and East Glacier got a foot of snow on August 22 (Great Falls got 8 inches that day). This is unusual. However, about a week ago (9/7) Red Lodge, the Beartooth Highway and Yellowstone got a snowfall. This is not that unusual. The flip side is that nice weather can also last through much of October. In general, though, the higher elevations may see colder weather and snow starting sometime in September.

An equally serious concern is that if you wait too long in the summer you run the risk of being detoured by wildfires, or having to cycle through smoke. Early summer is probably the ideal time for the peaks portion of the ride - just my opinion, but I've lived in Montana for 30 years.

I live in northern Wyoming and know all of the route.
This year we had snow on Labor Day - a little in the valley - a foot in the mountains.
Although that is a bit earlier than usual, you can expect Sept. snow and/or cold.
Usually the bad weather only last for two days - then it's gorgeous again.
If you allow "sit out" time in your schedule, then Sept. is possible.

By October conditions are riskier - you might need to thread the needle.
Still doable, but only for those highly prepared for serious weather.
You could have a lovely week in October - or you could freeze to death.

I have been talking to some friends about doing a trip along this route next August, hopefully it wont be unbearably hot or cold. Another concern is Covid 19 an camping locations being open, from my understanding none of the Yellowstone campgrounds are unavailable this year due to covid.
