Construction will close ~4.5 miles of the Cedar Lake Regional Trail between the town of Hopkins and France Ave. S. through Fall 2021. Currently, this is the only project closing the route, but other area projects have been planned for the near future that could have an impact on the route. Here is the detour that ACA suggests, which is very similar to official detours linked below but avoids a couple dangerous turns. https://ridewithgps.com/routes/32774315

Here are official posted detour maps (which includes the Cedar Lake Regional Trail):  https://metrocouncil.org/Transportation/Projects/Light-Rail-Projects/Southwest-LRT/Construction/Detour-Maps.aspx?source=child#Regional%20Trails

And here is the website for regional trail construction projects for the foreseeable future, including a schedule: https://metrocouncil.org/Transportation/Projects/Light-Rail-Projects/Southwest-LRT/Construction.aspx

Carla, I must have missed it but when did this route come out?  I knew it was "going to come out soon" but didn't see the official launch.

Thanks to you and your staff for making more and more routes!!!

Tailwinds, John

John:
There hasn't been an official launch - only what we call a soft launch where it appears online. The maps arrived in the office last Friday. It's tricky to officially tell cyclists not to ride the AC routes this summer, but at the same time make a big splash about a new route. So presently we'r taking the low-key approach.

Oh, I say make a big splash!  We can always plan and dream.  The biggest issue (due to the Wuhan virus thing) about riding it is the closure of the national and state parks to camping.  Other than that, it would be a very sparsely populated route, great for avoiding the virus.

Thanks, John
