Which Arkansas High Country Loop?
« on: May 29, 2020, 08:21:31 pm »
Planning a 5 day or so bikepacking trip on the Arkansas High Country route and wondering if anyone has an opinion on which loop is the most scenic and/or has the most gravel - South, Central or Northwest?  Looking for scenic gravel roads, mountainous terrain and some unique towns along the way.  They all look to have their strengths.  For what I'm looking for, I'm leaning toward the Central loop and then the Nortwest loop.  I'm most interested in gravel biking with gravel bikes so the singletrack option on the South loop doesn't really appeal to me.  Any thoughts?

First welcome to the ACA Forums!

While I have not ridden it, I live nearby in Tulsa.  I know from driving in the area that NW Arkansas is prettier than the rest of the state.  I know a couple of the highlights on the route and if I had to pick one, I would definitely choose the NW Loop.

Also, you can search for journals over on Crazyguyonabike.com but since it is a relatively new route, there may not be much if any journals yet.
