Florida Connector Elevation Gain

The Adventure Cycling information shows 6,275 feet of climbing in 519 miles. That seems very high.

When I try to approximate the route on Google it shows less than 2000 feet.

Anyone able to verify the hills. My brother has not embraced the joy of climbing and I would like to get him to go with me.

I haven't ridden the entire route but I've done parts of it and I found it to be virtually flat.  I found few real hills and most of my climbing seemed to be on bridges.  The terrain does go up and down a bit but there isn't any climbing like in the west or the Appalachians.

I have noticed that Google Maps usually does not include elevation changes due to overpasses/underpasses and bridges.  For example it lists the seven mile bridge in the keys as 0 elevation change but the bridge provides 65 of clearance in the middle hump for ships.  These omissions can quickly add up.  As for the climbs, the max elevation is 245 ft, most likely in the center of the state, no climb is going to come close to 150' high for any climb.
