A short section of Pleasant Hill Rd between Castle Rock and Longview, WA, is temporarily and indefinitely closed to traffic due to a sink hole. Vehicular traffic is prevented from entering the section between Huntington and Headquarters Roads, but bicycles can make it through. There are barricades, one of which necessitates taking off one or all panniers and prevents trikes from getting through, but this route is preferable to the detour, unless you like a good climb. I am currently asking the county to move the barricade so that there is a 36" opening to allow loaded bikes and trikes to easily pass. I'll update if there are any changes. Feel free to message me with questions.

Yes, the detour is on Bond Road, or the Old Pacific Hwy as it's sometimes called. Bond is fine, but it is a bigger climb. If a climb is not a problem, then of course it would be easier than maneuvering the roadblock. I often ride Bond into Castle Rock from Longview, but that's on my lighter bike.
