Buying a bike in the EU on a budget
« on: July 11, 2021, 05:01:43 pm »
Id like to buy my first semi-serious mountain bike, for around 700 EUR, so far I've found Trek's Marlin 6 2022 model which I really like over most of the other bikes at this price range, but I have found no way of actually buying it and getting it shipped. I live in Latvia a reasonably small country, and all the local shops here don't have any of the 2022 models and just overall have all the models overpriced if you compare them to the prices listed on trek's website. I've tried looking on online stores but no one sells Trek's bikes or at least the model I want. This trend has followed any bike I find that I like, I just can't find a way to purchase it.

So my overall question is, how would I purchase a bike like this? Any of the bikes sold here in local shops just don't match up to the bikes found on trek's website, even at higher price ranges. I've looked at other brands, either there is no literal way to get it here or the price is just too high compared to the recommended price on the brand's website.

Supply problems around Covid mean that websites are often misleading because even the manufacturer does not have bikes.
Waiting lists are long and common.
Sorry.

Also, this is a (mainly) US forum.
You might get more optimistic information on cycling fora in Europe.
