Absolutely true. We have some of the finest Neanderthals in the country running our state. If they are so concerned about safety, just ask them how they feel about a mandatory motorcycle helmet law. They'll be dead set against it and spout a bunch of gibberish about personal responsibility and choice.  But that doesn't apply to bicyclists.

(Yet another old thread revived by a meaningless post.)

This bill was sponsored by Denley Loge,  from St. Regis, who sponsors a lot of bills that die or are vetoed. Although he puts some thought into his work, you would think he would undertake more due diligence and concensus-building before wasting legislative resources and forcing citizens to take time to point out irrational aspects of his proposals, as did the forum members in January.

An appopriate death.  I suspect, however, it will rear it's ugly head in the next legisative session.

When it comes to politicians and legislators, animals have the advantage over humans. Animals do not allow the dumbest to lead the herd. A special permit to cycle across the state? All that would make cycling safer, maybe. Maybe if drivers get their faces out of their cell phones, stop driving drunk, and keep their eyes on the road, they might even see those lights and reflectors and vests and bells and whistles and whatever.

I always run with my rear light strobing during the day, so I'm ok with that, sometimes I run with a front light also on strobe mode, so I'm sort of ok with that too.  The neon clothing thing I think is a bit overboard though, it should be up to the rider if they want to wear neon or not, they don't paint cars neon, no instead they use assortment of grays so they blend into the street making them harder to see, I will say that some of my jerseys are neon, and I wear them when I know I will be riding on a road that has fast traffic, so that one I'm not sure about, maybe I'm ok with it?  I think they should have started one aspect like the lights then waited to do the neon clothing law.
