Lewis and Clark Trail, Map 1
« on: March 01, 2022, 07:18:59 pm »
Hi.  I’m new to this forum, but have been cycling the Lewis & Clark Trail.  My question is at the town of Henrietta, Missouri, the bridge on the mapped route is permanently closed.  Has anyone ridden across it?  It looks like a bicycle could cross without problem, providing one can get past the barriers.  Since it has been closed since 2017, I wonder if anyone has information about it?  It seems silly to ride the detour if the crossing is do-able.  Thanks, Marilyn

Welcome to the ACA Forums!

I am unsure of what bridge you mean.  If you mean the old Lexington Road bridge over the RR tracks, it MIGHT be passable since the Strava Heatmap shows activity on it the past year.  However, if it is unpassable, then take the detour or if you are adventurous, just take Main St. and walk across the tracks.

Hope the ride is going well!

Hello John,

Thank you so much for your reply.  Yes, the old Lexington Bridge is exactly the one I have been puzzling over.  After studying the town on the satellite map, I deduced one could cross the tracks on Main Street.  I could not discern if there was any degree of elevation to the tracks.  I can tell cars have crossed the tracks closest to Main Street, due to the dirt marks.

I will not be cycling this stretch until May, but I will post the outcome of the bridge crossing, detour or the “adventurous way”.

Thanks again for your help,

Marilyn
