South Louisiana Ride
« on: November 15, 2021, 06:00:53 pm »
I'm looking to build a fun safe route from New Orleans to Lafayette, LA and back.   Does anyone know a good source for Louisiana bike trails and bike-friendly roads?   I was thinking a route through the towns of New Iberia and Thibodeaux and perhaps back through Baton Rouge.    I'll appreciate any feedback and direction!

Check the Tour de Rouge route maps. The TDR goes from Houston to New Orleans.

My first trans continental US tour was the winter of 1984, 85. I took 90 to New Orleans going west. I took 90 W. out of New Orleans. In those days it was OK. Nowadays it is choked with commercial traffic, dirty and littered with all kinds of debris. That is unless they cleaned it the last time I used it. I would not use 90 again. Not in that area anyway.
