Road Trip Suggestions
« on: September 13, 2021, 08:55:19 am »
We will be taking a road trip at the end of September. Going from GA to Maine. This is a trip to see the fall colors as we get further north and to visit Acadia National Park.

I am looking for any recommendations or suggestions as to some trails, bike parks, riding in general that I can find along the way. I currently ride a Diamondback Bicycles Overdrive hardtail and my lady rides a Giant Stance 2. I would ride hers but its a medium and not set up for me. Are there places that rent bikes, would mine be suitable for trails up that area? Just looking for any information I can soak up before the trip so as to know what I may be in for. Thanks!! Oh also I am a novice rider with more "I think I can" then ability's at times.

The Blue Ridge Parkway and the Skyline Drive (commercial traffic free) will be following along your itinerary (for 597 miles of it anyway : ) and there are about 500 documented (used to be, anyways* ) trails off of the Parkway.
Take a look and see if it offers the type of riding opportunities in which you might have an interest...

Adv.Cycling used to sell this book for years ... don't see it on the site at present,
hence, here it is on Amazon ( covers both Blue Ridge and Skyline )

* Best i could find on trails radiating off the The Blue Ridge Parkway -

~ Best wishes for a great trip (from a 'Georgia boy' : )

Any chance you could turn your trip around and drive/ride south from Maine?  That might extend the time you're in "peak leaf season" territory.
