Does anyone else carry a chair with them while on tour? I hadn’t before last summer, when I took it on a two week tour of Montana. I purchased a Helinox Chair Zero and find it more comfortable than most of the picnic tables. I’m an ultralight tourer (10-15lbs) so this is a little heavy for me at 18oz. Love the comfort of it though!

Does anyone else carry a chair with them while on tour?

I also have a Zero that I carried once on the bike on the flatness of the KATY trail. It's now relegated to motorcycle and ski camping.

Saw a few chairs on the GDMBR this summer..., well, two. One was carried by a pretty strong rider in a very purposeful, no-hurry mode, along with his ukulele and flip flops.

I have one too.  Unless it is raining it is the first thing I set up at each camp site. I enjoyed it. Often if I was close to a river or a scenic view I would carry it over to sit in in the evening while I relaxed or read.

My sister also brings her ukulele with her when she tours with me. It's nice to have around the fire but wouldn't ever carry one myself.

Same! It's a great reading chair. Also nice to have a dry place to sit if it had rained recently and the picnic table is still wet or on those damp mornings!

It weighs very little and is decently comfortable. It's also quite compact. That said, it does take up space and as I've trended towards packing more efficiently and lighter overall, more often than not I leave the Alite behind nowadays.

Alite is now owned by Grand Trunk. It was a recent purchase and Grand Trunk should be offering some of the Alite products under their new name later this year.

My wife and I each have a chair (REI brand). Despite the weight concern, we find them comfortable, we can put the chairs in the shade or if there is rain, we can sit under a shelter.

I want to carry my Helinox Chair One on my upcoming trip. It is in the cut pile because of weight at the moment, but I'm still seriously considering it.

In the mean time, I have a Crazy Creek chair that I've had for years. Amazing back support and even though I'm sitting on the ground, it's nice for relaxing!

I want to carry my Helinox Chair One on my upcoming trip. It is in the cut pile because of weight at the moment, but I'm still seriously considering it.

I bought and then returned the Helinox Chair Zero. I was going to take it on my TransAM ride in 3 weeks. The back was fine but the seat was just too short to sit in comfortably and it was too low to the ground. At first I thought I had the back and the seat mixed up, but that was not the case. I will spend my 1.2 lbs of weight and $129 on something else.

Sure.  The seat on my recumbent.

Will you be camping in places that don't have a picnic table?  If you'll mostly be in regular campgrounds, you may not see the need for a chair.

My wife and I carry Helinox Zeros touring on our tandem. A pound each, but a splurge well worth the cost!

Yup.
And ... that is the one.
As I sit back in the Zero the thought typically emerges
that 'I am touring cause I enjoy the touring ...
not 'arriving' at the destination location
with my personal best lowest weight on bike frame ever.'

P.S. Btw, regarding relaxing / enjoying touring ...
only prob ever encountered with the Zero
was the feet easily sinking into some types of soft ground.
Over came that by fabricating 2 pvc pipes to act as
'sled like' supports. 
I place them under the feet
on right and left sides/back to front.   
When I pack my fabricated pipe 'sled like' supports
they slide compactly right over two to the legs ...
all fitting in same bag that came with the Zero.

I use the Zero base "ground sheet" sold as an accessory by the company. They also sell bigger ball feet to prevent sinking. (Photo attached from Helinox website.

I also use the accessory anchor, a tent stake tied off to the chair to keep it in camp on windy days.

PVCs are 1 inch outside diameters.
They slide right over the legs when I break all down
to put in tote bag.
IF you give this a whirl ... pls lemmno of any ways you may well find to improve upon this idea?
