TransAm Section 4, maps 42/43, bridge closed summer 2024

On April 8, 2024, the bridge over the Beaverhead River in Twin Bridges was closed indefinitely after a failed inspection. Read a news article here: https://www.fairfieldsuntimes.com/news/state/highway-41-bridge-between-twin-bridges-dillon-closed-indefinitely/article_79ebcdb9-56e2-5a83-b836-1cad41c46de4.html

Here is a detour around the closed bridge: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/46187477

This detour is 6.5 miles long and partially unpaved. It is the same detour that all traffic will be using, so ride with caution. The detour bypasses the town of Twin Bridges, so if you'd like to access the town for services, you'll have to do an out-and-back along SR 287. Unfortunately, the Bill White Bike Camp is on the opposite side of the bridge closure and will not be accessible.

For updates on the closure, call 406-208-0551 or see https://www.mdt.mt.gov/travinfo/alerts.aspx
