Transam Colorado & Kansas

Currently cycling W—>E on Transam. Started in Pueblo heading to Kansas City MO leaving the Transam near Great Bend KS to get to KC.  Heads up!  Many of the convenience stores shown on the Transam App are no longer open or have severely restricted operating hours (COVID related) as a result, there are times you’ll be cycling long distances without any services available.  Example. Ciraco’s conv store in olney springs has very limited hives and is on the verge of shuttering their doors; none of the stores in Boone are open.   The Derrick Inn in Ness City is closed; the Cobblestone Inn located in Eads is not identified on the app.  There is an excellent coffee and bake shop called Sand Cherry Coffee that is not identified on the app. Also Fontanel bakery is open in Tribune and Leoti but not identified on the app. Best advice is to use app with some skepticism regarding its accuracy or use in with other mapping apps.

I have never used the app.  In the paper map days changes like that were best kept up with in the adenda.  Is there a similar update that you need to do when using the app?  Are you reporting the changes back to the ACA folks so they can keep things updated?

EVERYONE who uses the app and the GPX tracks (and the print maps) need to refer to the online map corrections and updates pages to get the most up-to-date information.

And people should report what they see "on the ground" ASAP.  Things can change rapidly. I remember being on the Great Parks Suth route BITD.  The store near the campground I had chosen had literally burned to the ground a day or two before.  Fortunately, I had decided a bit earlier to goo ff route a little to a town that had a large chain store.

I have to assume there is still a way to do that on line through ACA's website.

Printing out the adenda before starting out on your trip is the minimum I'd suggest.  Checking more often along the way in addition is better.

Also yes, do everyone behind you a favor and report changes.  I think the correct way to do this is to use the route feedback form https://www.adventurecycling.org/routes-and-maps/adventure-cycling-route-network/map-correction-form/

Yes, both staehpj1 and BikeliciousBabe are correct. Use the online route feedback form - we check it daily and try to get information posted as soon as possible. Thank you everyone! We appreciate what cyclists do to help other cyclists.
