Dogs on the Southern Tier Route

What areas on the Southern Tier are known for having a lot of dogs? I keep hearing all these stories and wondering if they are mostly true. Is it really that bad?

Southern Tier?  No not bad.  I don't recall being chased much.

I've ridden stretches of the Southern Tier without any problem. However, I noticed several people complaining about US 90 in Western Texas, in forums on Crazy Guy.

Between San Diego and Phoenix there are no chasing dogs.
