Eureka CA to Loleta, CA on Pacific Coast

I'm planning Pacific Coast ride north to south this fall using ACA route. Is the road open from Eureka to Loleta, CA? or any closures to know of? When I check this route using google maps (for bikes) it has a 54 mile lengthy detour route instead of the direct 13.8 mile route. Google seems to know something that ACA doesn't? Any guidance appreciated. thanks, bikemhs
