Vehicle parking near Missoula
« on: January 06, 2024, 01:32:40 pm »
I'm planning a month-long bikepacking loop in Montana in July 2024 and I need safe outdoor parking for my truck.  My loop includes parts of the GDMBR and passes through Missoula, Butte, and Helena.  I'm willing to pay for parking, but I'd like to avoid airport parking since airports are usually not easy to access on a bike.  Does anybody have suggestions for long-term parking in this area?

The University of Montana has a much smaller student population in the summer and a number of outlying lots.
Not sure if they would permit non-student or non-staff parking. But it is convenient and relatively safe.
Can purchase a monthly pass.

I'd try a Warmshowers host. I live in Butte and have had several groups leave cars with me during their ride. If you want to start in Butte you could park at my house.

There is an airport with long term parking.

I used a storage lot. Paid the attendant $20 for 10 days and he gave me the code. Easy peasy.
