Suggestions for fully or semi supported Transam
« on: May 22, 2024, 05:28:34 am »
Hi,
First post on this forum for me. I have plans for riding the Transam within a few years. My first question about this is: are there organizations that organise supported rides? I know some people think the charm of a massive bike tour is to arrange everything by themselves. For me, I prefer that some things are taken care of, like the places you stay the night. I don't mind camping, but it would be a relaxing thought for me that I know at the start of every new day, that the lodging is taken care of. Any suggestions of traveling agencies, bike tour organizations, etc. that organise these tours?
Thanks a lot.

First, welcome to the ACA Forums!

As far as supported tours of the official TransAm, you might check the classifieds section of the ACA magazine as there are several companies that lead cross USA tours.  I do know that ACA itself has/had (already started) a supported tour of the TransAm Express https://www.adventurecycling.org/guided-tours/van-supported-tours/transam-express-westward-van/ for 2024 but the ACA Tour offerings vary each year.  While they used to offer several guided self-contained TA tours each year, they only offer this on a limited basis anymore, probably due to changing demographics or client travel preferences.

You might reach out to ACA themselves to see if they have suggestions and/or are planning a guided TA tour in the future.

Tailwinds, John
