October has come and gone. Here we are in November. So far as anyone can tell, the mass arrests did not happen. What they did was run them off. The law went into the wooded areas where people were camped. They gave them time to leave. The people camped in public areas alongside walks and under bridges were told to leave. I am not sure, but I think they returned. I know of some people who were told to leave their camp where it was and get out. They did and they went back. I think they were leaning more toward getting people off of the sidewalks. They also ran them out of the woods.

As matters have progressed regarding moving homeless people off the sidewalks and out of the woods and into tent cities, there has been no progress whatsoever of which I am aware. I do not know of any tent City set up anywhere. As far as that is concerned it appears it was a lot of political mishmash. I have not seen or heard of any reality anywhere that matches the discussions from that long ago when this thread started. All the publicity and news centered around the concept of moving people away from makeshift camps on sidewalks and in the woods and into tent cities that had to be funded and set up by individual counties and such. To this point in time I have not heard of any place or any County or any City that has actually done that. As for the mass arrests of homeless people, if anything like that happened we were not made aware of it through the media. It was a lot of political posturing and theorizing about what to do about the problem, but following through with almost nothing except the part about moving people off the sidewalks and out of the woods. I think they just had to move away.

Months ago I did personally check one wooded area where people were known to have set up tents and occupied spaces there. It was privately owned land probably by some corporation. There was nobody there when I went back to check. There were places where trash and other items were thrown around when people vacated the area, but gone were the tents and other temporary living arrangements in the woods. I suppose that is a good thing. Nothing wrong with being homeless but when a certain area draws dangerous criminals and drug addicts, predators and registered sexual offenders and other felons, it becomes time for concern and action. They took the action and they are gone. Where they went I do not know and I could not care less.
