Arkansas High Country NW loop
« on: August 10, 2024, 11:21:14 pm »
ACA corrections page shows a landslide on white rock mtn road (FS1003)

ACA recommends a detour:

https://ridewithgps.com/routes/35722644

the Forest service page shows TWO landslides/closures (June/2023)
https://www.fs.usda.gov/Internet/FSE_DOCUMENTS/fseprd1121460.pdf

it appears the detour does not account for the 2nd land slide

work arounds?

I don't have a work around but since the landslide was in June 2023, you might call the Turner Bend Store in Cass or the county Sheriffs Office and ask them if they know if the road has reopened.
That said, the past 30-day heatmap on RWGPS shows the western slide road to have cycling volume on it so it appears to be reopened but the eastern slide road shows no volume which MIGHT mean that section has not.  You might use the heatmap on RWGPS to see what route looks to you.

The USFS website is still showing that the road is closed is both areas: https://www.fs.usda.gov/alerts/osfnf/alerts-notices

If you find something different, please let us know.

In the meantime, here is detour around both landslides: https://ridewithgps.com/routes/48096448
