I am planning on the Great Rivers South route going into New Orleans, but ACA wants you to take W. Airline Highway and according to Louisiana, this is illegal. Anyone with any experience in this? And if true a better alternate route?

How did you determine that this was illegal?

When I rode from NO to Tulsa about 6 years ago, I did not like the ACA routing due to the traffic and used the west side of the river until near Plaquemine when we switched to the east side and then rode up to LA-10 where we started heading NW toward Tulsa.  It was a nice quiet route overall and left NO on a bike path for many miles.  I can't remember if it had campgrounds or not as we stayed in hotels on that trip but other services were fine.

If you want, I can send you a gps file with the route and the various services that were in place at that time.  If you prefer a RWGPS, let me know and I will create the routes on RWGPS but it won't have the services listed.  Just private message me and let me know if you want them.

Google maps, Strava, GPS, state road maps. There is a plethora of information on alternate routes.
