I started bicycle camping and touring with friends as a 14 y old when 5 of us talked our parents into letting us loose in southern Wisconsin for a couple of weeks.
Transformative.
A big fan of introduction of the youth of America to cycling.

I recall great camping trips with two boys under 6, trailing a tandem Adams Trail-and a Bob behind my prototype Litespeed mountain bike. Think rall-trails and small towns with free camping in community parks with community swimming pools.

Also  a Boy scout leader for 15 years. Usually a bicycle camping trip each year. (Is there a reason ACA shouldn't more formally team up with the girls and boys of the new Scouts and organize a couple of bicycle tours - think of the high adventure canoe base in Minnesota, sailing base in Florida, and Philmont in New Mexico. Think Ed Billings putting together the Trans-Am trip for his troop in 2015.

How about some youth or family camping tours underwritten by some of the old life members....

For those interested in touring with children (and) send questions about family and youth tours to ACA leadership as regards their offerings and participation in this important area of rider devlopment.  https://www.adventurecycling.org/about-us/contact-us/contact-us-form/
