SAILRITE catalog
« on: April 06, 2026, 01:46:48 pm »
I picked up the 2020 in a thrift store. I wanted to get some ideas on sewing bags. None of the fabric is high tech just ordinary fabric with or without UV or mildew protection. I am interested is structural sewing. Sails aircraft wings trampolines. That is they are strong but not pretty. If you want to learn to sew a sail it is not going to be under sailing or sewing and the library won't have it anyway. It is a good catalog with plenty of practical information and they do love their jargon. There is some tubing. What I found most interesting is eyelet ends. If you break a rack eyelet you could cut it off and add an eyelet end in stainless. They won't have the right size but some one is surely selling them.  There is also online instructional videos.

One time I built a small wooden boat about 15 feet long. I made a lateen sail for it. I made it out of polyester sail cloth and polyester thread. I used a standard home sewing machine. I did not use it very much. That was 1983. I still have that sale today. I keep it in a box.
