History of Bicycle Travel

Hi Folks: I am a new member of Adventure Cycling but a long time bicycle traveller. I am also a prof who is attempting to research women bicycle travellers from 1920-1950. I have recently read some diaries of women who travelled alone or with other women during this time--including the book on Helen Coyle's journeys. This is a part of cycling history that is rarely written. If anyone has any information about women who travelled during this time, knows the whereabouts of journals or diaries of their trips, or know people who can talk about the women and/or their trips, I would appreciate hearing from you.

Dervla Murphy should of course be on your list.  She's written several books about her travels.  Most of which involve a bicycle for all or part.
Oops, Just checked.  She didn't start til the early 60's.  Well, anyone interested in adventure should read her books anyway.
