Well, I have a bike. I used to bike alot in college. Not so much since I moved to Los Angeles but I still get out some. I got interested in a longer term trip and found you guys. Any suggestions on how to start getting ready to do a trip like one of these! I want to do it! Just don't know where to start. :-)

Welcome, Kiki. One great place to start is the How To Department right here at Adventure Cycling. Look for the link on the home page.

Do write back with any special questions that are not answered there. You will get answers, if not consensus.

If you are still interested in finding out more about planning for a trip you can visit the following sites.   www.crazyguyonabike.com   They list journals from seasoned and novice bike tourers.  You will get input from cyclists as well as the webmaster who completed his own lengthy trip in 1998.  Topics range from coast to coast, international, as well as local rides.  You can also email me if you have other questions.   cidhandyman@sbcglobal.net

Happy riding.
