smaller ring for touring?

Turns out I could have saved $70 bucks if I ordered the parts from nashbar.com

True but could you install them yourself?  If yes then Nashbar, etc. are significantly cheaper than  almost any LBS.  However, if you need the dealer to install the parts, you might be well ahead to get the parts there also.

BTW, has anyone else wondered why there is only a 12x32 cassette available?  I realize it's expected to go on an MTB with a 44T or 46T big ring but a 13x32 would be much more useful for road/touring use.  How many riders who need a 25 inch or lower low gear have any need for a 117 inch high gear?

My LBS (California Pedaler in Danville, CA) gave me a good deal on the labor and a discount on the parts (w/o me asking!). They are the best!

I'm all set up. Now that the rain has stopped, I can go out and test my new gears...........
