Anyone ever done that?  We're eager to hear how that works.
If not, we'll be the first and report back.  please forgive if you
've seen a smiliar posting on the "routes" page.

Adventure Cycling had several articles on this subject in the past year or two.  One about a couple with two smaller kids touring Normandy area of France.  Another about a couple with two teenage children riding tandems around the world.  Not sure the riding around the world article had much on traveling with children but the Normandy France article definitely did.  I think there may be copies of the past articles on the Adventure Cycling website.

Thanks for the response.  I read the article on the Normandy
trip.  My problem is that my child is 5 and jsut wanted to see if
there were people with stories of young children.  Thanks
anyway!

That's so sweet. I had dreams about going on a bicycling vacation when I was younger, but my parents never took me on one. Your kid is going to love this. :)

We have taken our two sons on tours from when they were 8 and 10.  They easily handled 50 km days. The trick is to stop often, keep things positive, and stop to smell the roses (play grounds, pools at campsites). They are now 10 and 12 and can do longer days with no problems. Set your goals based on the child and you should do fine.

You have probably already ridden your ride, but I have to agree with AJB.  My children started riding at a young age and the planning was for them-where were the playgrounds, pools, beaches, etc.  The first long ride with my son (who was 7 and had been riding for a couple of years) found us doing 75-80 mile days.  I brought grandma along and my son rode 1/2 the day with me on the tandem, met up with grandma and she took him and I traded bikes and continued riding with my daughter.  Michigan has a 1-week ride that is geared towards families (PALM) I have ridden this ride 12 times now always bringing at least 1 of my nieces and nephews.
