advertising your home for a nite's rest
« on: June 06, 2005, 08:45:16 pm »
I love cycling, and just today I met a 61 year old man in Frankfort KY who had  started in Los Angeles CA.
We talked a little...etc...what an inspiration!!
I live in Louisville KY. I don't know if this city is on any of AdventureCycling's routes, but I want to offer my home to long distance cyclist's for a night's rest. Do many people do this? Is this the best place to do offer such a thing? Your comments, thoughts please.Text

Hi,

I suppose there are a number of ways you could publicize your home to long-distance cyclists.  One way is by keeping your posting here in the list of forums.  Another is to join the Tandem Club of America.  In so doing, your name and address will appear in a yearly member list, and by notifying the keeper of this list you can specify your home is open to traveling cylists.  You can offer space for a tent, a room, shower, meal, and a place to get the laundry done.  They're called Hospitality Homes.  The address for learning more about this is: editor@tandemclub.org.  Please include my names: Scott and Barb Laughlin member #10445.

Best regards,

Scott

There's also hospitalityclub.org
where you can join the cyclists' "group"

Other hosting sites are: globalfreeloaders.com and couchsurfing.com.
