Schwaube Tires

I really like these tires. Bu t if you live in the US,  I want to caution you that they are sold by a Canadian company. I have nothing against my favorite neighbor, but Mastercard, American Express, and Visa do.

These credit card companies have recently added a fee for 'foreign transactions'; they will tack on a fee, and I know of no way around it, except to use a Discover Card, which has not yet gone along with this new fee.  American Express tacks on 2% the last time I checked, Visa and Mastercard are 3%.

Don't the local bike shops carry them? Are they only available from the distributor? At least if the rpice is in Canadian dollars you will save a good bit on exhange.

I live in Austin, TX. and was able to order 2 Schwalbe Marathon + tires from one of our local bike shops. Only had to order them because they only had one in stock. Cost was $44.95 US each. Thanks for the
"heads-up" about cross border credit card transactions. Enjoy the Voyage......Mark of the Dalton Boys

nashbar stocks the Marathons in 26 and 20.
I just put a Marathon XR tire on for a test ride in NYC (=nightmare).
Wicked tire. And they are folding!
Combine with a Salsa Gordo rim and you could ride over a live volcano.
(I got the XR's from Schwalbe direct since nashbar doesn't stock them)
Does anybody have any realworld mileage stats for these tires?
I'm about to beat some to death with a heavy load transam tour.

Just got my Schwalbe Marathon+ 26X1.75's mounted but only about 100 miles on them so far....I also went nauseatingly over the edge and put Sline liners in as well...will update as time goes by. I do not own a car so all of my mileage is commuting in Austin, TX.  Enjoy the voyage....Mark of the Dalton Boys

I recently used Marathon Plus on a 3,000-mile-plus loaded tour along the TransAm. NO flat. Others with me had their share. Plenty of thread left, too.
