Places to stay on the TransAm

Me and my friend from college are planning on riding the transam in May of '06.  We are on a very tight budget and looking for people who normally take cyclist in for a night.  I am familiar with the cookie lady. Are there other people like her along the route and if so how can I locate them?

The ACA maps list many free camping sites along the route. City parks and churches are excellent. Call ahead when a phone number is listed. Check www.crazyguyonabike.com for many daily journals (I was part of Larry Elswick's TA trek in '05) which give camping info. Good luck. You'll love the tour.
