Where are you touring to 2006

I intend to discover my own state of Washington.  A tour around Mt.Rainier and a tour to eastern Washington. Where everyone else going?

I'll know when I get back.  I've toured in every state surrounding Utah, but not Utah itself, so it's high on my wish list.  I'd also like to spend more time playing in the high Sierra passes and among the redwoods of the Northern California coast.  Mexico and the rest of Latin America is starting to whisper my name, too, but they will probably have to wait a little while.  I need to do some off road or back country touring soon to balance out all the road touring I've been doing, but I'm not sure yet where it will lead.

I'm planning to ride through Utah and N. Arizona in May.  I'm also starting to give some thought to riding in Scotland in the fall...and while I'm there I might as well do Ireland and England, right?

In my heart of hearts?? Liquidating excess property in Texas, pedaling up to BBI for the Bicycle mechanics course, then pedal somewhere to apprentice for a year or so at a bicycle shop, then really start traveling around on an HPV. Enjoy the Voyage....Mark of the Dalton Boys

Plan to finish my TransAm, which ended this summer in Teton NP. I went east to west, but will go west to east this upcoming summer, finishing where I ended.

My wife and I have two tours planned.  In May, we're going to do a loop tour from the Lake Champlain Islands to Montreal.  During the summer, we're going on the Bon Ton Roulet tour in the Finger Lakes region with some friends.

Doing the Green Mountains loop in May to introduce the gf to her home state. Will be her first time bike touring, and my first on road. Starting small, hopefully do bigger trips as time goes on.

A modification of the America Discovery Trail between Annapolis, Maryland, and the Mississippi River, following the C&O Canal and Greater Allegheny Passage from Washington, D.C. to Pittsburgh, then across Ohio, Indiana, and Illinois (also on canal paths).  Almost 600 miles of the total 1,100 miles will be on canal paths or rail trails.

TransAm, then down the Pacific Coast to Santa Barbara, CA.  Selling the house, tech-ing up a Greenspeed GTO with a Burley Nomad trailer, hitting the road.

Lewis and Clark Return Journey with Historical Trails Cycling, http://www.historicaltrailscycling.com/.

We've also done the outward bound Lewis & Clark Trail trip (2002), the Oregon Trail trip (1994), and a  Mormon Trail Trip (1997) with Historical Trails Cycling. The price is very reasonable for a domestic supported tour at $75 per day. There are not as many amenities or as exotic cuisine as with more expensive tours. Plan on camping with some opportunities to stay in schools, and armories. There are some long days, which may be very hot, but most people avoid the sag wagon.

We've met some fantastic people on previous tours.

We just finished a four day tour looping through Death Valley.  I'll be doing a solo tour through the coastal mountains of California in April.  My wife and I will be riding our Greenspeed tandem trike from our home in the southern-most Sierras up to Carson City, NV. then across to Sonoma County on the California coast.
