LOarge Miyata Cross Bike
« on: August 27, 2006, 05:41:30 pm »
I was given a Miyata Cross bike that is a bit large for me. I normally ride a 56cm Fuji Custom pergormance oriented road bike. I like the Miyata and the way steel feels--a sweet ride. Am ok once I`m on the bike. I would like to go touring--this bike has it all, panniers, lights, fenders, etc. Some people in our club(racing oriented) advise me to get a bike the right size with indexed shifting. This bike has Suntour deraillers, triple crank, and a very low six cog casette. Would this be a good touring bike? It is in exceptionally good condition. I have only been biking two years, did the Trek Across Maine twice, and ride 10 to 15 miles a day. I`m also 65. Any advice would be appreciated.

Webmaster: Been surfing  AC website and got my question answered. The Miyata is super comfortable and more than capable of a trans am. I think I`ll hang on to her and use her as a commuter bike. For the planned tour ,Maine to San Fran. I`ll run the performance oriented Fuji 60 to 70 miles a day--with lots of stops--while my wife drives the camper-van. I guess you can delete the original question--many thanks.         Alex
