Ok I went out to my local shop and bought a cannondale T800 it set me back about $1100, so is this the right price for that model or did I get taken?

That's a good price and they are a good bike.  My T2000 which is the same frame as the T800 is five years old and still is going strong.  You'll not regrest you bought it.

 :)I have a 1998 T1000 30,000+ miles no major problems great bike.
