I asked this last year so I'll ask again this year, where are you riding to or hope to ride?

My plan is to ride from my home in Fairborn, OH to Sunset Beach, NC to meet my family for a 2 week vacation. I'll be doing this the first part of July.

The route I've planned is about 725 miles.I'm planning on riding 9 days that will take me through Southern Ohio, Eastern KY, Western VA, and then diagonally through NC to Sunset Beach - the last beach in North Carolina. No motels on this one - all camping.

Who knows - it make take less than 9 days or it might take longer; I'm in no hurry. :)

I would like to ride from Belfast, Maine to San Francisco. It looks like a go for 2008. For 2007 I`ll do as many Centuries and Charity rides as I can. Am also seriously considering doing Time trials as training for the big ride.

My wife and I are going to ride part of the Lewis and Clark trail, starting in Oregon and stopping in Montana. We will also ride from Eugene Oregon to the coast and back for an early season warm up.

Badger.

I note you often pose interesting open-end questions. OK - good job. BUT - are you going any place beside the couch in front of your TV? I'm sure the answer is yes, even if it may not be an earth shaking destination or ride.

I always enjoy and respect your posts.

Yikes! I have been found out.  I ask questions that are opened ended mainly because of the wealth of information I get. I'm realtively new to touring and the info I get from other riders is far better then any touring book I can buy.  As far as my touring plans are I have so many places in my home state of Washington that I haven't seen that I am concentrating on these. My next trip will be from my back door to Astoria Oregon.  This will be later in the year.  Also I belong to the Cascade Bicycle club and they do an annual ride from Seattle to Vancouver, BC every year so I can't miss that.  I'll be celbrating my 30 year wedding anniversary so I think I'm going on a cruise.  No bicycles on this one but if my bride is happy I'll be happy. So that's pretty much my plans

Yes.  Not exactly a tour.  And I've heard the roads traveled are not really too scenic.  More or less farmland.  Which I see on all of my local rides.  I had a very successful brevet season this year so I'm pretty confident.  I am definitely focusing on it.  Its good to have a goal for the riding season.  A riding friend did PBP in 1995 too.  A few other people from my area are going over too.

I am planning to ride 3/4 the lenght of New Hampshire up the middle and into Quebec City then back down the west side of Maine to Conway N H then back to brothers house in Weare N H taking 2 to 3 weeks.
If anyone has any suggestions, thoughts or comments please post them. I've got some maps and checked out places to camp, which are few as I get further north in N H .
 Thanks Fred

I hope to finish grad school in June.  Then my wife and I I will cobble together some sort of Western/Midwestern U.S. route to see family, relax, and enjoy time together.  We will start here in Eugene, Oregon and head West through Missoula and eventually hooking up with the Northern Tier.  Across to Wisconsin to see my family and then over to Michigan for my wife's family reunion.  Head southward to Missouri and then back west on the TransAm to northern Utah and back to Oregon.
What do you think?
Hope to leave in early June and be back by late August.
Also, we want to use our tour to raise funds for the charity Water For People (www.waterforpeople.org). Anyone done a tour for a cause before? Tips?
We will hopefully be on a Co-Motion Speedster tandem. Spendy, but very high-quality.  Not sure if we want a trailer or panniers yet...we'll try them both beforehand.
Thanks for the inspiration

my plan is to ride bike4peace again. the tour leaves everett,wa on august 1st and arrives in washington d.c. on september 22nd, world peace day.
bike4peace is a self-supported tour, no sag vehicle. riders are supported by hosts along the way.
the ride is about promoting sustainable, peaceful, healthier, cleaner options. this will be the 3rd year for the ride.
we are hoping to attract more riders year after year.
it is a beautiful yet demanding route through the cascade mountains, the rockies, over the continental devide. through the dry praries of south dakota and wyoming. the rolling hills of wisconsin.
there is a website, http://bike4peace.org
you can see the itenerary, route guide and riders blogs from last year.

It was hard for us to figure out what touring location to follow last year's tour of Switzerland.  That trip was awesome and we could have easily gone back for more of Europe.  I wanted something very different though.

What finally won out was 3.5 weeks of riding through Alaska.  To change it up even more, 2 weeks of this trip will be the ACA's Denali Adventure tour.  Is it July yet?

Cheers,
