Anyone have a negative experience trying to board an international flight wearing your SPD sandals?

Thanks, Greg

No experience.  But I have thought about taking an ultra light credit card tour of Europe in the next few years.  As part of the ultra light theme, I would use my SPD sandals as my only shoes on and off the bike.

A way around this potential airport security problem would be to buy a pair of regular sandals at Wal-Mart and wear them until you got to your destination.  Then toss them.  Pack the SPD sandals in luggage.  And when returning, buy a cheap pair of sandals at the other end and pack the SPD sandals in luggage.

I don't know why they would be a problem.  You take them off like any other shoe, pass them through the X-ray scanner, the TSA person looks at the image, shrugs and you put them back on. If questioned about the "funny metal thingy" on the bottom, you describe what it's for.

They are looking for weapons and/or explosives and the cleats are neither.

Done it 4 times internationally, many more times on domestic flights, never had the least bit of a problem.

Same experience as valygrl, no problems on either domestic or international flights.

Cheers,
