Hi all, new member here. A little info about myself, I'm 22. in NE PA. A while ago I was at a job I hated, in a town I don't want to be in, so I thought a good way to get out would be a cross-country bike trip. See the west, have fun, and hopefully make some friends in the process. I'm sure I'll be having a lot of questions, so hopefully you all can put up with me. Just wanted to introduce myself.

Welcome to the world of XC touring.  Also check out http://www.crazyguyonabike.com.  There is a discussion board there and a lot of journals of other folks trips.

My daughter and one of her college room mates decided to do the TransAmerica last summer after graduation.  They invited me along and I think it was a great experience for all three of us.  If you are interested we kept a journal at:
