Has anyone ever done this loop?  My husband and I are doing this at the end of August.  We weren't sure of a safe place to park while we do the 400 miles.

Hi Terryo,

Park where? Guessing that you will start the ride in Burlington, I'd suggest calling the campus police at UVM, which has huge parking lots that are well lighted and patrolled.

In general, I have had excellent results from asking the cops in many towns. Sometimes they put me right at the police station; sometimes at a lot that they watch. They always express their thanks for letting them know about me.

Enjoy the trip. That is one beautiful ride.

Fred

Ditto on what Fred says about parking. I had a question about parking in Whitehall, NY when a friend and I did a circumnav of Lake Champlain. I asked the local Navy history museum there who asked the police and the police directed me to the local Amtrak station and were very helpful.

Hi:
I'm thinking about this route in the fall. I'd be interested to get your observations. My email: jpfox@ehs.umass.edu

Good riding.

I think you were asking about parking for the Addirondack loop which is a little NW of Albany. Same directions applies. Parking in Burlington Vermont is out of way.

We wouldn't be up in Vermont.  We're coming from New Jersey and would be starting the ride in Lyons Park in Niskayuna, NY.  I guess I'll contact the local police and get advice.  Thanks for the information.

Are you staying in a local hotel/motel the evening before you begin the ride or the evening of the day you finish?  If so, the hotel may allow you to leave your car in their parking lot for the time you are away.  We've been able to do that for a couple of multi-day trips and the hotel staff looked out for the car.

Good idea about the motel.
Thanks.
