Do you know of a library for touring routes?

Of course ACA has a set of routes. What about all those other tours that people take? I know there are a lot of ideas and places to visit out there. Most particularly, those tours outside of North America.

When I search online, all I find is commercial tours, but hardly any routes generated by riders, well documented, charted on a map, generated GPX files, and detailed day by day.

Do know of such places?

You can try bikely.com or mapmyride.com but be forewarned those may or may not be decent routes.

A lot of states have bike route maps showing which state roads are good to use.

It is not too difficult getting a decent route picked by yourself.  Plus it helps you remember it a lot longer (at least I do anyway).

Happy trails and may the wind be at your back!

That site www.crazyguyonabike.com does a very good job of covering world wide tours. I am already inspired by a few ideas listed there.

It provides a lot of details (pictures, route, points of interest, etc) about each trip. So I can get a general idea of the tour before diving into the details of planning the route.

Thank you for sharing it.

You could look in our registry, on the Register Your Ride page. The second paragraph has a link to review the rides already registered. Some will have the level of detail you are looking for, some won't. Check it out:

I hope this helps.

Great idea...didn't know it existed.  Some clarification questions.

Are "Avg miles per day" based on overall or riding?  Does cost per day include transportation to & from?

Happy trails and may the wind be at your back!

Unfortunately, since this is all self-entered (and there isn't much guidance given on the form), there is no way to determine this information from looking at the summary of statistics. If you were to go to a  specific registry, you could probably sleuth it out. Some registries will have contact information for the cyclist, too, if they have chosen to make their email and/or blog, online journal, etc. public.

Hi,

I meant since I am inputting and wanted to put in accurate info, does ACA want the overall or riding average and does ACA want the cost per day to include transportation, gear bought, etc. or just the actual daily expenses?  Perhaps ACA could update the form to accurately reflect what it wants.  Thanks again!

Happy trails and may the wind be at your back!
